About
It all started twenty-eight years ago, with a dream and a Cat 955 Track Loader with a four-in-one bucket. Steve Konell purchased the Cat Loader from his former boss, and started his own construction company, specializing in site preparation and commercial demolition. He had a simple and innovative vision that would become the company motto:
“Using the past to build the future.”
After a year on his own, Steve Konell hired his brother, Jeff, and then John Sayles the following year. They started off with small urban demolition jobs but quickly moved on to bigger projects as the company continued to grow. They now operate with a huge fleet of machinery (including Steve’s original Cat Loader) and about 45 regular employees, often managing as many as fifteen jobs at once.
It’s the people at Konell who really make the difference. The people at Konell are detail-oriented problem solvers. They often find their repeat business ask for the same superintendent from jobs that were completed years ago. Konell is recognized in the industry as a trail-blazer: an ethical and responsible company with superior business practices, setting new standards in commercial recycling. They’ve won numerous awards over the years, including the Green Building Demolition Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors three years in a row.
Sadly, Steve Konell passed away in 2009, but the product of his dreams, hard work and innovative vision – Konell Construction and Demolition Company – will continue on. Innovation, dedication, commitment to excellence and that personal attention to every job are the original hallmarks of Steve Konell’s company and key to its continued success.
